Our annual Mystery Fun Ride was held this year on May 31st 2015. The weather had been cold and wet but the day of the ride was fine and clear. 10 riders gathered and all paired up to tackle the ride and quiz along the way. The ride took in farmland with easy farm tracks but varying terrain. The views from the top of the hill were spectacular, riders could walk, trot, canter and even gallop in places if their hearts desired. There were 20 quiz questions scattered along the ride, mostly on fence posts and they varied from easy peasy to hard. Top score was 17/20- a very good effort. The ride was well marked and there was an optimum time for the course which nobody was informed of. This was to encourage enjoyment of the ride rather than a race. A prize was given to the winners of the quiz (we have to reward horsey knowledge!) and the Mystery Fun Day trophy was awarded to the overall winners of the aggregate score of quiz and closest to optimum time. Winners of the quiz were Lynn Cameron and Ren Kennedy. Overall trophy winners were Irene Keeley and Sue Ketel. Sue was so excited she decided to cartwheel right off her horse! Well done all! Everyone had a great time and there were grins all round. It was a great morning out and yet we were all on our way home by lunchtime! Thanks to Jolene and Patricia for organising it; Jolene and Richard for hosting it and the hard working NRC committee for keeping the events coming for our members.
